RAY BICKLEY
HEADLAND…Ray Bickley, a resident of Headland, passed away peacefully in his wife’s arms, November 11, 2019 at UAB Hospital, in Birmingham. He was 59.
Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2019, at Kinsey Baptist Church, with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory. Arrangements are being handled by Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends and extended family from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday evening at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory.
Ray was a graduate of Eufaula, AL and then continued his education at Auburn University where he also played college baseball.
In 2009 Ray, his wife Dawn and their daughter Cadelan Rayn moved to Headland to make it their home. Ray was currently the Building, Coding, and Zoning official for the city of Headland. His goal was for the town in which his family and friends lived to be the best and safest it could be for our generation and generations to come. Ray has been in the construction industry for several years, most recently with Hammer Construction as a Project Manager.
Survivors include his wife Dawn and their daughter Cadie who he absolutely adored. Cadie’s favorite comforting words have been “I have never seen a daddy love his daughter the way your daddy loves you. You are his princess”.
To know Ray was to love him. He was such a joy to be around. While reminiscing with family and friends gathered around, the descriptions of Ray were protector, loving, trooper, strong, determined, always said “I’m good” and never complained. Whenever his daughter asked him to do something he would always say “absolutely”. Some of Cadies friends described him as courageous, strong, caring, giving, always joyful, compassionate, faithful, loving, selfless, helpful, and extremely hilarious. Although he is greatly missed, it’s comforting to know the legacy he leaves.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jimmy Heath, Mike Oates, Jordan Heath, Jarrett Heath, Rob Eldridge, and Harry Wilson.
