Ray Leger


Ray Leger, age 56 of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, following a brief illness.


Funeral services for Ray will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the chapel of Family First Funeral Care with Reverend Thomas Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Members of the Midland City Volunteer Fire Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.


Ray was born in Jackson Hospital (Jackson County, Florida) on February 15, 1965 to the late Junior Leger and Myrtle Leger Jackson. He loved his church and his church family more than anything else in life. He also was excited to be a part of the Midland City Volunteer Fire Department.


In addition to his father, Ray is preceded in death by a niece, Irell Whitehead, and his grandparents, Houston and Eva Jackson and Louie and Valley Leger. Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Leger Jackson; two brothers, Dewayne Leger and Cecil Leger; two sisters, Ida Mae (John) Mathis and Mary Mexico (Gerald Harris); nieces, Marie Harris and Sandy Harris; nephews, William (Virginia) Harris, Willmer (Kimberly) Harris, Howard Harris and Jim Whitehead. Also surviving are numerous cousins, aunts, uncles along with several great nieces and great nephews.
