Rayburn Alto Spann of Donaldsonville, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at his home. He was 82 years old. 


Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2024, in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Cliff Quincey and Bro. Wesley Ard officiating. Burial will follow in the Flat Creek Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.


Rayburn was born in Coffee County, AL on November 6, 1941, to the late Raymond Alto and Bertha Elizabeth Mock Spann. Mr. Spann enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting, gardening, and planting all types of flowers. He was a member of Goodman Assembly of God Church and in his last years he was a member of Lake Seminole Baptist Church.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Wenell Powell, Vermell McDougald, Thear Mae Barnes and Louise Pridgen; four brothers, Dorsey Spann, Sr., James Spann, Eddie Ray Spann, and an infant brother.


He is survived by his wife of 18 ½ years, Lisa Hurley Spann of Donalsonville, GA; four sisters, Mary Ward of Athens, AL, Maggie Nowling (Walt) of Chancellor, AL, Edna Yates (Randall) of Darlington, FL, and Lois Ard (Wesley) of Sunny Hills, FL; one brother, Randall Spann of Geneva, AL; brother-in-law, William Pridgen of Hacoda, AL; father and mother-in-law, Jerry and Betty Hurley of Enterprise, AL; and many special nieces and nephews.
