Mrs. Raynelle Womble Knighton Lane, 87, of Columbia, Al. died at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Al. today, September 15, 2013 following a brief illness. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11 AM EST  in the Chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home in Blakely, Ga. with  Rev. Randall Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9 AM to 11 AM EST.   The family will be at 200 Radney St. Columbia , Al.    Serving as Active pallbearers will be Calvin Knighton, Stacy Knighton , Terry Knighton, Waylon Knighton, Brad Knighton and Jason Leatherwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Mills, Billy Langford , Joe Knighton  and Ted Knighton.


Mrs. Lane was born November 17, 1925  in Pike Co. Al. to the late Ira Womble and Berta Drinkard Womble. She was the owner and operator of The Towne Shoppe in Columbia, Al. for more than 30 years. Following her retirement, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, Al. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Clarence E. Knighton Jr. and by her second husband, Wilmer (Red) Lane. Sisters; Ruth Austin, Johnny Bass, Gladys Edwards and by 2 brothers, Sonny Womble and Buster Womble. 


Mrs. Lane is survived by 4 sons: Bradley Knighton and wife Martha Jean, Tony Knighton both of Hilton, Ga.; Jasper Knighton and wife Jerry and Larry Knighton both of Columbia, Al. A brother  Fred Womble of DeFuniak Springs,  Fl .9 Grandchildren: Latona Little, Tammie Grantham and husband Jim, Stacey Knighton and wife Teri, Calvin Knighton and wife Christi, Terry Knighton, Waylon Knighton and wife Lisa, Brad Knighton, Tina Cumbie and husband Chris and Jason Leatherwood. 18 Great-Grandchildren, 10 Great-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
