Reba was born on April 10, 1938 to the late Floyd Gay Groce and Elma (Baker) Groce in the Open Pond Community in Westville. She graduated from Ponce de Leon High School in 1956 where she was a basketball standout and lettered for the Lady Pirates. Reba married Junior Howard Sconiers on Christmas Eve in 1956, and they moved to the east side of the Choctawhatchee River where they raised five children together. Reba was high-spirited and active—her early years were spent riding wild horses, as a 4-H Leader, living on the Choctawhatchee River, while fishing and boating the waterways down to the Gulf of Mexico; and camping throughout the far reaches of natural Florida with her husband and children in their converted blue school bus. Reba retired from the Florida State Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a livestock Inspector; and was a lifelong member of the Open Pond Holiness Pentecostal Church where her parents were founding members and her Father was a Deacon. Reba’s interests were spending time with her family, close friends, and community, attending church, and slipping-off to the Geneva Christian Mission—she gave tirelessly to those she loved and those in need until the end.
Reba is predeceased by her husband Junior, and her siblings: Joyce Whitehead, Billy Jack ‘BJ ’Groce, Lloyd Delmar ‘LD ’Groce, and Roger Groce.
She is survived by her five Children: Dianne Sconiers-Bush (Charles), Nanette Sconiers-Pupalaikis (Rob), David Sconiers, Dale Sconiers (Leisa), and Dean Sconiers (Stephanie); her loving sister Betty Hudson, and her cousin and loyal friend Norma Jean Ward; and countless adored cousins, and nieces and nephews. In addition, Reba was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Nakeyla Boswell, Kazia Coleman, Eden Duncan, Ashley Paulk, Dinah Saunders, Kesley Sconiers, and Kane and Shade Sconiers; and 15 great grandchildren: Makaley, Keira, and Bella Boswell; Darien, Eli, Joseph, Sarah, and Hannah Coleman; Winter Marie Sconiers-Pupalaikis; Isaiah and Grace Paulk; Adaline and Wyatt Saunders; Tripp Capshaw, and Tracker Sconiers—Reba’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren without a doubt were her greatest treasures. The family sincerely appreciates Covenant Care Hospice for their kindness and attentiveness, and ‘Kelly’s Caring Hands’—specifically Kelly Hedrick for her tireless and compassionate care.
