REBECCA NEWSOME SAVELLE
HEADLAND. . .Rebecca Newsome Savelle, a resident of the Hebron community of Henry County, died early Thursday morning, March 28, 2013. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 30, 2013, in the Hebron Baptist Church with Reverend Ron Baker and Reverend Ted Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Butch Glover, 6952 State Highway 134, East, Columbia, AL 36319.
Mrs. Savelle was born in the Bertha community of Dale County, daughter of the late John Raymond Newsome and Dutchie Ophene Trawick Newsome. She formerly lived in Headland before moving to the Hebron community thirty-five years ago. Mrs. Savelle was a member of the Hebron Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of Wex-Tex Manufacturing Company in Headland. Mrs. Savelle was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Clarence Savelle, Jr., two sisters, Jean Chapman and Doris Taylor, and a brother, Bruce Newsome.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Darlene Brown and husband, Keith; a son, Larry Savelle and wife, Lynne, all of the Hebron community; four grandchildren, Bryan Savelle, Erin Money, David Savelle and Josh Brown; a special sister-in-law, Jewell Savelle Taylor, Newville.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Taylor, Rhett Taylor, Tim Brown, Eddie DeShazo, Brandon Apida, and Robert Apida.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Gentiva Home Health Care and especially Gary Whitehead and Donna Taylor for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Savelle during her illness.
