REGINA FITZGERALD SKIPPER


DOTHAN. . .Regina (Gina) Fitzgerald Skipper, a resident of Dothan, died Wednesday afternoon, September 23, 2015, at her home, following a long illness. She was 65.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2015 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Freddie McCain and Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. A private family graveside service will follow in Gardens of Memory, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303.


            Gina Skipper was born and reared in Ozark and was a 1968 graduate of Carroll High School. Upon graduation from high school, she worked in Anchorage and Fairbanks, Alaska for Alaska National Bank for four years. She moved to Dothan in 1972 and was employed at the SouthTrust Bank Data Center and also United Federal. After the birth of her daughter, Brandi, she was a homemaker for the rest of her life. Gina was a member of the Concord Congregational Methodist Church and attended Northside Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vera Thompson Bell, her step-father, C.T. Bell, Jr., a brother, Joe Fitzgerald, Jr., her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Buck and Virgie Skipper, a niece, Kendall Bell, and a sister-in-law, Dora Bagwell.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Jerry Skipper, a daughter, Brandi Skipper, both of Dothan; a son, Keith Peterson, Murfreesboro, TN; a step-son, Jason Skipper (Laurie), Dothan; a sister, Janice Bell (Clay), Dothan; a sister-in-law, Debbie Fitzgerald, Dothan; a niece, Jennifer Wright (Shane), Dothan; nephews, Clayton T. Bell, IV (Ina), Dumfries, VA; Derek Fitzgerald and Joey Fitzgerald, both of Dothan; several nieces and nephews from the Skipper family.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Kenny Long, Doug Williams, Ronnie Nowell, Jimmy Dell, George Thomas and Ted Gashaw. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Welch, Jim Patterson, Davy Dozier, Clayton T. Bell, IV and Shane Wright.


            The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice especially nurses, Carla, Tracy, and Rhonda for their loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Skipper and her family during her illness.
