ASHFORD. . . Reginald W. “Buddy” Hughes, a resident of Ashford, died Thursday morning, February 22, 2018, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 24, 2018, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford, with Reverend William Irwin officiating and a eulogy to be given by Larry McArdle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, c/o John W. King, 974 Jack Bruner Road, Ashford, AL 36312.


            Mr. Hughes was born and reared in the Green Front Community, son of the late Enoch Edell Hughes and Toye Cook Hughes. A lifelong resident of the Cedar Springs Community, near Ashford, he was a member of the Cedar Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes was retired from Georgia Pacific and was engaged in farming with his wife most of his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jane Pittman Hughes, who died February 17, 2018, a son, Michael Windell Hughes, two brothers, Keith Hughes and Damon Hughes.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Tammy Hughes Windham (Terry), Echo Community; a son, Brian Hughes (Brandy), Webb; four grandchildren, Blake Windham, Brooke Windham, Brody Hughes and Bryson Hughes; four sisters, Glenda Dotson, Ashford; Cathie McCullough, Webb; Era Womack, Cottonwood; and Vicki Turner, Webb; three brothers, Dennis Hughes (Faith), Ashford; Henry Hughes (Kathleen), and Rodney Hughes, Webb; numerous nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Rocky Windham, Blake Windham, Lee McCullough, Rod Hughes, Jeremiah Granger and Tyler Paulk.
