Renee Denise Cope, a resident of Samson, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on May 29, 2024, at the age of 54, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 26, 1969, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Renee was a spirited and successful woman. She built a distinguished career in the oil and gas industry, holding various positions as Executive Assistant, Office Manager, and Programmer Analyst at prominent companies like CITGO, Westlake Chemical, US DOD, and TSYS.
In 2014, Renee fell in love with Johnny Cope. They married later that year and began their life together in Samson. Devoted to her family, Renee cherished her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her delicious Cajun cooking, often shared through her catering business, "Country Cajun."
Beyond her love for family and food (and her endless obsession with the color Orange), Renee found joy in the tranquility of the beach, cheering on her beloved LSU Tigers, and indulging in true-crime documentaries. Those who knew her well will remember her love for God, infectious smile, unwavering generosity, and her ability to be a pillar of strength and support for all. She was affectionately called "The Wiz," "Nee Nee," "Renee MD," "Nana," "Babe," and "Mom," reflecting the many cherished roles she played in life.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Johnny Cope; 3 daughters, Faith LeFleur, Taylor Cribley, and Ella Cope; 2 sons, Aarron Lester and Tyson Cope; her father, Willis Abshire and step-mother Vickie Abshire; her mother, Linda Richard and step-father Lester Richard; 3 sisters, Erica Hayes, April Kratzer, and Nikki Blumenfeld; 1 brother, Mark Abshire; 4 grandchildren, Branson, Mila, Bradley and Ezra; and many nieces and nephews.
Renee was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents.
We know sometimes the road she chose to travel or was made to travel had not been kind to her. She still persevered and fought to the very end. She’s my wife, my daughter, my sister, my mother, and my aunt. Through it all, she never denied who her savior was.
While there will be no formal service at this time, Renee's memory will be forever cherished by those who loved her.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
