Rev. Haney was born December 26, 1935, in Washington County, Florida to the late William Sanford and Noma Cooper Haney. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years and he enjoyed fishing, building and baking. He opened the first bakery in Geneva in 1970, but several years prior he had opened the very first “in store” bakery in Las Vegas, Nevada. His grandchildren grew up tasting his donut glaze from his finger almost before they were given their bottle. While in Las Vegas many of the stars had the pleasure of enjoying his baking talent. While he had many accomplishments in life his greatest love was the call the Lord gave him to serve as founder and pastor of Geneva Family Worship Center and all the people of Geneva. He was also founder of the In God We Trust Ministries, Inc. His hands were on every piece of construction that went into the building. He was a family man and his family came first, but serving the Lord was first and foremost. Rev. Haney was in the ministry for more than 40 years and will be missed by his family and the many friends he encountered and ministered too during all those years.
In addition to his parents, an infant daughter, Barbara Gail Haney, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gwendolyn Cotton Haney; one son, Norman David Haney both of Samson; three daughters: Brenda Marie and Fred Rouse of Defuniak Springs, FL, Nell Ruth and Owen Jett of Albany, GA, Patricia Ann and Danny Burns of Wausau, FL; 6 grandchildren; 15 Great-grandchildren; one brother, John Henry “Bo” Haney; five sisters: Hazel McManigal, Margaret Sanders, Nell Stafford, Ruby Byrd and Lois Harrell; his faithful Black Lab, Hobo; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family and a host of friends.
