 Obituary: Rev. Johnny Eldridge


 


Rev. Johnny Eldridge of Slocomb went home to be with his Lord, Monday, October 28, 2013 at his residence. He was 86. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, at Burns Church with Rev. Kenneth Martin and Rev. Terry Hayes officiating. Rev. Eldridge will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Slocomb directing. 


The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 until 8 p.m. 


Rev. Eldridge was born August 24, 1927 in Geneva County to the late L.E. and Jennie Griffin Eldridge. He owned and operated Southern Fence Company for many years. A faithful minister of Christ, Rev. Eldridge pastored many Assembly of God Churches in Georgia and Alabama during his 40 plus years of ministry and was a member of Taylor Assembly of God Church. 


In addition to his parents, three sisters: Bessie Lee Seay, Vassie Mae Chestnut and Nobie Ricks; three brothers: Garvie T. Eldridge, P.Z. Eldridge and Moody D. Eldridge preceded him in death. 


Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julia Eldridge, Slocomb; two daughters: Judy Ann McCall (Chuck), Cottonwood and Janice Wanda Woodham (Wayne), Ozark; one brother, Maylon Eldridge (Faye), Slocomb; seven grandchildren: Mandy Collins (David), Tania Davis (Bill), Samantha Sellers (Brandon), Alyssa Dorsey (Matthew), Ryan Rhoades (Brandy), Casey McCall (Niki) and Brad McCall; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dot Davis; special friends: Johnny Mac and Martha Hughes and Joan Brown; several nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. 


Pall Bearers will be Brandon Sellers, Ryan Rhoades, Bill Davis, David Collins, Stan Eldridge and Brian Eldridge.
