Rev. Johnny Lamar Jordan of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 08, 2013. He was 75.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Chaplain Tim officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
The family asked that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Covenant Hospice or your favorite charity.
Mr. Jordan was born May 12, 1937, in Mt. Dora, Florida to the late Clarence Eugene and Delia Inez Anderson Jordan. He loved the Lord and was a faithful servant for many years. He pastored several churches and served in many different capacities which included Deacon, Sunday School Director, Minister of Music and Youth Minister. He loved the farm life and dealing with cattle. Johnny also owned and operated a drywall construction business. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy and was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church. He was a very loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents one brother James Jordan and one sister, Frances Wilkerson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 52 years, Lavaughn Howell Jordan; one daughter, Glenda Cowan (Tommy); two sons: Gary and Jeff Jordan, all of Geneva; one brother, Billy Eugene Jordan, Geneva; five sisters: Nellie Ruth Carter (J.D.),Geneva, Sarah Jenkins (Jack), Louise Grimes (Hayward), all of Dothan, Christine Fleming, Enterprise and Gail Howell (Max), Bellwood; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; other extended family and friends.
