Robert retired from Publix Supermarkets in 1986 after serving them for 23 years. At that time, he began his second career by moving to Graceville, Florida and attending Florida Baptist College. While in School, he pastored Eden Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, AL. After graduation, he served Providence Baptist Church in Clayhatchee, AL for fifteen and a half years. He retired from full-time ministry in 2008.
Robert never really retired from ministry. Every day of his retirement, he continued to serve the God he loved above all. He had a passion for his Lord and continually looked for and took opportunities to share the gospel message with people he knew or met until the very end.
Robert’s life verse was Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you.” He believed that no matter how bad things may seem or if he could not understand what was going on around him, as long as he continually looked towards the God he loved, he had nothing to fear.
Robert was born on December 29, 1941 to Robert Almon and Zola Taylor Beasley. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife and the “love of his life” for 51 years, Ann, three children, Rondi Donaldson, Vicki Barlow (Brian) and Robert Beasley (Lisa). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jonathan Donaldson (Emilita), Jenifer Wade (Aaron), John Barlow, Anna Barlow, Sarah Barlow, Emily Beasley, Matthew Beasley, Molly Beasley and one great grandchild, Lane Donaldson. Jenifer will soon be having his “tee-niny” baby, Ezra Wade. He is also survived by three brothers, Blaine, Cliff and Preston and one sister, Ernestine.
