Rev. William Jonathon “Bill” Wilson, Jr. of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, January 14, 2013. He was 79.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
Rev. Wilson was born December 3, 1933, in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late William Jonathon Sr. and Margaret Tisdale Wilson. His faithful service for the Lord, with the Assembly of God, carried him through the states of Alabama, Florida and Mississippi. After serving his Lord and Savior in the ministry he retired with more than 40 years of service. He also served as a chaplain with the National Guard. Bill was a member of the Elba Assembly of God Church.
In addition to his parents his daughter, Marion Patricia Fitch, and most recently his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Marion C. Strickland Wilson, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, William Edward Wilson (Joan), Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren: Lisa Fitch Griffin (Gregory), Dallas, TX, Justin Paul Wilson, Ruthanna Wilson and Ian Wilson, all of Atlanta, GA, and Jessica D. Wilson, Ocala, FL; two great-grandsons: Gregory Cade Griffin and Jackson Paul Griffin, Dallas, TX; one brother, John Edward Wilson (Jane), Ocala, FL; two sisters, Margaret Hancock, Jacksonville, FL and Joanne Windsor, Ocala, FL; other extended family and friends.
