Rev. Willie Earl Cantor of Geneva passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016.  He was 88.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Devco Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Strickland officiating.  Burial will follow, with military rites, in Poplar Head United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.


Rev. Cantor was born in Geneva, AL on August 28, 1927, to the late Coy Tilman and Mamie Lavaria Harris Cantor.  He was a deacon and choir director at Family Worship Center for 18 years. He then became a member of Devco Baptist Church.  He served in the US Navy during WWII.  Rev. Cantor retired from DynCorp in Ft. Rucker after thirty-three years of service as an aircraft mechanic.  He was a longtime member of Woodmen of the World.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Pauline Hall.


He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Christine Cantor of Geneva; two daughters, Elizabeth Diann Newsome (Larry) of Fayetteville, GA and Sandra Faye Burgess of Geneva; son, Eddie Earl Cantor (Norine) of Flowery Branch, GA; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his great-nephew, David Rea (Leigh) of Geneva.
