Reverend Buford Henderson, a resident of Dothan, died Monday November 7, 2011 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 83.


Funeral services for Reverend Henderson will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Jerry Hood officiating. Burial will follow in Union Springs Free Will Baptist Church cemetery with Southern Heritage directing. The family will receive friends from 4 PM until 6 PM on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to; Mt. Enon Baptist Church Building Fund, 3167 Iris Road, Dothan, AL 36301.


Reverend Henderson was born March 22, 1928 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Elic and Euna Philmon Henderson. He heard the call to preach in 1959 and pastored in Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia for 51 years. Reverend Henderson loved his Lord and taking care of people.


Reverend Henderson is preceded in death by a son, George Henderson; two grandsons, Bobby Applin and Richie Applin; two sisters, Hilda Olive and Effie Harrell.


Survivors include his wife, Eddie B. Henderson, Dothan; son, Joe Henderson; two daughters, Barbara and Bill Parker, Patty and Dick Arnold; eight grandchildren, Carla and Richard Pearce, Angee Henderson, Jay and Kerri Knight, Eric Henderson, Monica Malsom, Jenny Malsom, Ginger Parker, Shelly Vore and Leisa Finley; nine great grandchildren; sister Laverne Prevatil; two brothers, Hubert Henderson, Herbert and Fran Henderson.
