ABBEVILLE. . .Reverend Gerald Lee Ross, a resident of Abbeville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday afternoon, February 7, 2022, at his home. He was 83.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 11, 2022, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Brandon Turner and Dr. Johnny Roberts officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

Brother Ross was born and reared in Donalsonville, Georgia, son of the late Rufus Roscoe Ross and Evelyn Easom Ross. At an early age, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country in the Vietnam War. Brother Ross retired with rank of Sergeant First Class after twenty years service. While serving in the military, he pastored a church in Darmstadt, Germany. Upon returning to the United States, Brother Ross helped to establish Calvary Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church both in Georgia. He pastored several Baptist churches in Georgia and Florida. In later years, he served as Pastor of the Judson Baptist Church, near Abbeville, where he retired in 2012. Brother Ross was a member of the Judson Baptist Church and was active in the Judson Baptist Association.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Brinson Ross, two daughters, Tracie Kniskern (Danny), Auburndale, FL and Penny Watford (Timmy), Abbeville; two sons, Troy Ross, Abbeville; and Jonathan Ross (Tami), Cairo, GA; grandchildren, Jason Kniskern (Jackie), Justin Kniskern, Kristen Ross (Josh), Holli Ross (Michael), Tessa Ross (McCree), Ashley Braddy (Dannon), Cody Watford (Kelsey), Jordan Cromer (Ryan), Jalyn Ross, Jenin Ross and Jakin Ross, eleven great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be family members and honorary pallbearers will be men of the Judson Baptist Church.
