CLOPTON. . .Reverend Kenneth E. Preston, a resident of Clopton, died early Friday morning, April 1, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2022, in the Clopton United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Ball officiating Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M Sunday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clopton United Methodist Church, 3679 Co Road 69, Skipperville, AL 36374 or to the Edwin United Methodist Church, 360 County Road 235, Clopton, AL 36317.
Reverend Preston was born and reared in the Mt. Enon community, near Midland City, son of the late Irving Rex Preston and Marjorie Chancey Preston. He was a 1965 graduate of Carroll High School in Ozark and also Wallace Community College. Kenneth lived in the Clopton community of Dale County most of his adult lifetime He was a member of the Clopton United Methdist Church and was a former member of the Masonic Order. Kenneth was retired from the WalMart Distribution Center in Brundidge. He was currently serving as Pastor of the Clopton United Methodist Church and the Edwin United Methodist Church. In earlier years, Kenneth served the Coffee Springs United Methodist Church and had also been engaged in farming. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Durwood Preston and Harold Douglas Preston, and brothers-in-law, Steve Czarnecki and Bruce Hancock.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Cindy Price Preston; three daughters, Mandy Redding (Tommy), Eufaula; Livi Thompson (John), Dothan; and Margie Griffith (Brian), Ozark; four sons, Ken Preston (Nina), Cowarts; James Preston (Amy), Sylacauga; Joey Preston (Cierra), Mobile; and Chad Preston (Kayla), Perkinston, MS; three sisters, Brenda Hancock, Midland City; Sandra Bell (Ray), Echo; and Lisa Preston, Midland City; sister-in-law, Sheila McClendon Preston, Abbeville; fourteen grandchildren, Miles, Georgi, Ruby, Sailor, Whitley, Ava, Ashton, Lane, Bryce, Ema, Haleigh, Grayson, Austin and Titus; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Price family, Deni Golden (Edward), Lee Price, (Georgia), and Rick Price (Joan), numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Buster Volf, Kyle Anderson, Judson Campbell, Adam Pritchett, Scott Moore, Chad Mesey, David Price and Jackie Blankenship.
