ABBEVILLE. . .Reverend William Carroll Taylor, a resident of Abbeville, died early Wednesday evening, November 6, 2024, at his home. He was 87.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, November 8, 2024, in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Abbeville Fire & Rescue, 201 Bradley Street, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Reverend Taylor was born and reared in Milton, Florida, son of the late Olan Taylor, who was a Baptist Minister, and Pearl Mae Dixon Taylor. He was a graduate of Milton High School. Reverend Taylor was a retired employee of Air Products in Pensacola, Florida. At a young age, he was called to preach in Assembly of God Churches. Reverend Taylor served as Pastor of Spring Hill Assembly of God in Milton. After moving to Abbeville in 1975, he served as an Evangelist and as Pastor of The Mission Chapel in Abbeville. In later years, Reverend Taylor served as the Director of the Henry County Rescue Mission in Abbeville and Headland for thirty-four years. He was an avid fisherman. Reverend Taylor was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Hopkins Taylor, a daughter, Angela Rane (Jimmy), Abbeville; two sons, Mike Taylor (Debra), Abbeville; and Ricky Taylor (Kathy), Eufaula; grandchildren, Jason Hudspeth, Chris Hudspeth, Lindsay Rane Carter (Chance), and Kayla Weed (Jeremy); step-grandchildren, Ashleigh Rane Savoy (Kevin), and James W. Rane, Jr. (Mandy); great-grandchildren, Kameron Seay (Greer), Addie Hudspeth, Lily Hudspeth, Taylor Hudspeth, Madysen Hudspeth and Christopher Hudspeth, Jr.; numerous step-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandsons, Reid Seay and Billy Newton; four sisters, Linda Morrell, Vondora Brown, Christy Smith and Carrie Lee; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Jason Hudspeth, Christopher Hudspeth, Greer Seay, Christopher Hudspeth, Jr., Kevin Kelly and Josh Nolze.
The family would like to express their appreciation to First Light Caregivers and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Reverend Taylor during his illness.
