Date of Service: A celebration of his life will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lyle Peluso officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dothan Vineyard Church.

Rex “Mac” McNealy of Dothan passed away after a long illness on Friday, March 18, 2022. He was 66 years old.


A celebration of his life will be at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 26, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Lyle Peluso officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dothan Vineyard Church.


Mac was born on November 11, 1955 to the late Samson and Lillian Jackson McNealy. He proudly served in the United States Army for 14 years. After basic training in 1978, Mac was stationed in Giessen, Germany where he met Bonnie. He was stationed in several locations, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait during Operation Desert Shield Desert Storm. Mac was honorably discharged in 1992 and settled in Dothan, AL. While in the Army, he was a printing press operator and continued that occupation until he retired in 2001. Mac was a believer in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was a member of Dothan Vineyard Church for several years. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, especially grilling and cheering on the Florida Seminoles.


He was preceded in death by his siblings, Annie Jewell (Harold) Warren, Eliza (Richard) Lewis, Robert Henry McNealy, Willie O. (Sarah) McNealy and Arthur McNealy.


Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; children, Rex McNealy, Jr., Zachary Pace McNealy, Jarred Andrew (MaDonna) McNealy all of Dothan, daughter, LaKisha Smith, Kendrick Rabb, Latoya Young; grandchildren, ZaNalla Mosby, ZaKiya McNealy, Jeremiah McNealy, Zachary Pace McNealy, Jr., Zykius Grace, Mekhi Grace, Lakedra Thompson; great grandchildren, Alaiya Springfield and Zuri Grace; siblings, Mamie (David) Mathis, James (Martha) McNealy, Randy (Theresa) McNealy, Pace (Rosa) McNealy and Wanda McNealy; and a host of loved nieces, nephews and cousins.


Mac was a loving and caring man who loved his family deeply and unconditionally.
