ABBEVILLE. . .Rhydona Hartzog Skinner, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday morning, September 19, 2024, at her home. She was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, September 22, 2024, in Lakeside Christian Fellowship with Reverend Mickey Skinner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Lakeside Christian Fellowship, P.O. Box 218, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Skinner was born and reared in the Edgefield community in Barbour County, daughter of the late Ellis Hartzog and Hettie Woodham Hartzog. She was a 1954 graduate of Baker Hill High School and received an Associates Degree in Business Administration in Columbus, Georgia. Mrs. Hartzog lived in Abbeville most of her adult lifetime. She was a member of Lakeside Christian Fellowship and was a former member of Sardis Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. Mrs. Skinner was retired from WestPoint Stevens after forty-five years employment. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vonnie Strickland.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Shelby Lee Skinner; her sons, Michael Skinner (Mary), Taylor, AL; Reverend Mickey Skinner (Becky), Shorterville; Marcus Skinner (Barbara), Malvern, AL; and Marvin Skinner (Kerri), Headland; a brother, Dennis Hartzog (Jane), Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Terence Skinner (Michelle), Miranda Flint, Ellis Skinner, Stephanie Alligood (Tim), Bethany Skinner, Hunter Skinner (Vanessa), and Lauren Skinner; great-grandchildren, Sophia, Lydia, Ian, Natalie, Jacob and Tyler; several nieces and nephews.
