Richard Alfred Schoof (Dick) died Nov 16, 2021 at the age of 98.


A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 at the Covenant United Methodist Church in Dothan from 2-4pm in the Children's Worship Center.


Dick was born October 14th, 1923 in Lyndhurst, NJ. He served in WWII as a weatherman in the Army Aircorps, stationed in the South Pacific forward listening post. After the war, he attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. He married Mary Louise Paasch in 1951 and had 3 children, Rosalind, William and Frank, who survive him. He had a long career as a high school biology teacher, and was an avid outdoorsman and talented fisherman. Dick was fortunate to find a loving community in Dothan for the final act of his life, including his marriage to fellow WWII veteran, Evelyn Moore, who predeceased him.


Donations in Dick's memory can be made to the Wiregrass Area Food Bank or to the Dothan Area Botanical Garden.
