Richard Ashley Miller, 62, a resident of Dothan passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness.


The family will receive friends from 1-4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home with a prayer service at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the The ALS Association, Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 37022, Boone, IA, 50037-0022.


Mr. Miller was born August 15, 1954 in Fernandina Beach, FL and spent the early part of his life in Eufaula, AL. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Navy then later in life spent several years in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was an Avionics Technician at Ft. Rucker for over 20 years until his illness. Richard loved to run daily and ride his bicycle.


Survivors include his son Brian Miller; his daughter, Paige (Pierre) Riddlesprigger; his granddaughter, Miya Miller; his mother, Frances Miller; his brother, Lee Miller; his sister, Rebecca (Tim) Whitener; the mother of his children, Anna Hornsby.
