Richard Baskerville, 84, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 10, 2024,  at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 912 State Avenue, Dothan, Alabama with Albert Valentine officiating. The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Hall from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m. prior to service time.

Richard was born in Newark, Jew Jersey on October 8, 1939, to Clifton Thomas Baskerville and Jozella Baker. When Richard was still young, his mother married James Andrew Conover.  Richard served in the Air Force and National Guard for several years.  He retired from working on the assembly line with Ford Motor Company.

Richard was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 14, 1981.  He had a long history as a faithful servant of Jehovah.  In 1987, he began serving as an elder in the Orange South (New Jersey) congregation.   One of his greatest joys was serving on the Hospital Visitation Group.  He said he was encouraged by many of the brothers and sisters he met in the hospital, and they were encouraged by him as well. One brother and sister were so encouraged by him they asked Richard to give their memorial talk.  Richard was zealous for his ministry.  He arranged for several unassigned territory trips and had the privilege of arranging a Canadian Bethel tour. He was currently in the Dothan North Congregation.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, Jozella Baker and Clifton Thomas Baskerville; his step-father, James Andrew Conover; his son, Clifton; his brothers, Clifton Baskerville and Andrew Conover; his step-daughter, Robin Moore; step-granddaughters, Yva Marie Battle and Danielle Hurd; a sister-in-law, Willie Ruth Griggs.
