Services will be held at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 2 pm with Brother Sam Totten, Dr. Taylor Rutland, and Brother Bob Gross officiating. The family will be receiving guests one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church Dothan designated, “Missions T.I.M.E. Youth”.

Richard D Grigsby went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2022. He was 70 years old.

Richard was born on November 23, 1951 in Rockwood, TN. His family later moved to Dothan where he was a 1969 graduate of Dothan High School. Richard continued his education earning his Bachelor and Master degrees from Troy State University. He served with Dothan City Schools beginning in 1972 as a teacher, followed by an administrator, before retiring in 2004. He was a member of First Baptist Church Dothan.


Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Imogene Grigsby and by his brother, Don Grigsby.


He is survived by his wife, Virginia King Grigsby; daughters, Jennifer (Sam) Totten of Enterprise, Amy (Bart) Hartsfield of Homewood and Paige (Bobby) Keel of Slocomb; grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Gillis of Samson, Sara (Seth) Messer of Graceville, Henry Hartsfield of Homewood, Clay Keel and Brody Keel of Slocomb; one great-granddaughter, Maci Gillis.


The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice for helping with his care.
