Richard Lee “Dicky” Sappington, Jr., a resident of Lake Wales, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021. He was 78 years old.


Military honors will be rendered on Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11 am in Sunset Memorial Park. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery.


Mr. Sappington was born on April 25, 1943, in Seymour, Indiana to the late Richard Lee and Annie Pearl Brackin Sappington. Mr. Sappington worked for many years with Super Value before his retirement. He lived life to the fullest, he loved collecting trains, and fishing. Mr. Sappington also enjoyed spending time with his family.


Survivors include 5 children, Tammy (Amador) Bustos of Clermont, FL, Craig (Jennifer) Sappington of Pinckard, AL, Lynn (Brandi) Sappington of Haines City, FL, Lisa (Simon) Torres of Lake Wales, FL, and Phillip (Candy) Sappington of Lake Wales, FL; his 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Easton Lane; his 3 sisters, Joyce, Janice, and Sue; his brother, Doyle Sappington; and several nieces and nephews.
