Richard Allen Speed of Dothan,Alabama, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 80 years old. A celebration of life service will be held at Westgate Church of Christ on Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Mark Turner officiating.

Richard Speed was born October 30th,1943 in Chicago,Illinois to the late Walter Speed and Pauline Van Dyke. Mr. Speed worked for 40 years at Chicago Rawhide in Elgin,Illinois as a machinist. He retired in 2002 and moved to Dothan,Alabama. He enjoyed camping with family, his love for oysters was paramount, watching Alabama football, and spending time at the beach. He is preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Speed. Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Diane Speed, 2 children Scott (Angie) Speed of Wicksburg,Alabama, And Tammy (Marty) Thomley of Wicksburg,Alabama, 4 grandchildren Nicholas ( Emily) Speed, Nicole Speed, Teo Thomley, and Porter Vance Thomley.

In closing, the family would like to express thanks to close friends who visited.  

All floral deliveries will need to be taken to the church the day of service.
