ROBBIE CALHOUN BRACKIN
DOTHAN…Robbie Calhoun Brackin, a resident of Dothan went home to be with the Lord Wednesday morning, December 26, 2012, at her home. She was 86.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012, in the Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Jerry Grandstaff, Reverend Billy Rich, and her son, Mark Brackin officiating. Graveside services will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Reverend Stacy Stafford officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 423 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301 or Alacare Hospice, 3379 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36305.
Mrs. Brackin was born and reared in Houston County, daughter of the late Burnos Preston Calhoun and Berchie Mercer Calhoun. She lived in Dothan all her adult lifetime. Mrs. Brackin was an active member of the Southside Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a retired employee of the Dothan Eagle in the composing room. Mrs. Brackin was preceded in death by husband, James Carroll Brackin, two sisters, Christine Sims and Bobbie Cherry, and a brother Preston Calhoun.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Randy Brackin, and Mark Brackin and wife, Connie, all of Dothan; two sisters, Minnie Ruth Clements, Center Point, AL; and Betty Colvin (Bill), Holly Hill, SC; a brother Danny Calhoun (Becky), Dothan; three grandchildren, Ashley Jacobs (David), Eric Brackin (Whitney), and Kyle Brackin; and four great-grandchildren, Ella Brackin, Jackson Brackin, John Reid Brackin, and Benjamin Brackin.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Kyle Brackin, Eric Brackin, Nickie Brackin, Charles Swicord, Roy Gulledge, Jr. and Chad Gulledge.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Southside Baptist Church Fellowship Sunday School Class.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Alacare Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Brackin during her illness.
