Date: Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Jeff Ross officiating. Burial will follow with graveside services with brother A.J. Pinkard officiating, at Randolph Memory Gardens in Roanoke, Alabama at 4:00 p.m. (CST). The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home.

Robert “Bob” Merton Timmerman, a resident of Dale County, died early Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021, at Southeast Health. He was 75.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 15, 2021, at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Jeff Ross officiating. Burial will follow with graveside services with brother A.J. Pinkard officiating, at Randolph Memory Gardens in Roanoke, Alabama at 4:00 p.m. (CST). The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed. Bob will receive a full Honorary Military Funeral for his service to our great country. Flowers accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Humane Society, 255 Jerry Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36303.


Mr. Timmerman was born in Amsterdam, New York, son of the late Merton Timmerman and Virginia Smith Timmerman. His military career included 8 years of active duty with the Army which included two tours in Vietnam with the 281st ASLT HEL CO. The remainder of his 30 years of military service was with the Alabama National Guard. Bob was a civilian flight instructor at Fort Rucker for 38 years. He loved to fly and enjoyed teaching students to use instruments to fly in the clouds. Bob received his B.A. in Psychology from Auburn University and received his Master of Business Administration Degree from Troy University, Dothan. While attending Auburn University, Bob worked for Auburn Police Department.


Bob was a life member of Friends of Army Aviation-Ozark, a member of New South Cruisers-Dothan, was an avid Auburn fan, and enjoyed watching and attending Braves games.



He is preceded in death by his parents, Merton and Virginia Timmerman, father-in-law; Leonard Cecil Kinsey and mother-in-law; Vire Kinsey; and brother-in-law; Wes Kinsey.


Surviving relatives include his wife of 40 years, Judy Kinsey Timmerman; brother, Scott Timmerman (Jill); sister, Sally McCrea (Keith); sisters-in- laws, Sherie K. Pinkard (Hoyt) and Donna S. Kinsey; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew.
