Mr. Don Parrish, 70, a resident of Cowarts, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, unexpectedly doing exactly what he loved to do.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Dothan Fire Department Chaplain Allen Singley officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery (431 North) with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will be receiving friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2022, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Don was born June 30, 1952, in Dothan. He was raised by his grandmother, Lillian Donn Parrish, and mother, Dorothy Parrish Woodham. Don spent his younger years in Dothan and was a 1972 graduate of Rehobeth High School. He attended Wallace Community College and obtained his Paramedic certification. He later worked with the Dothan Fire Department for over 20 years prior to his retirement. Don was currently in his 30th year with Pilcher’s Ambulance Service. In 2021, he was named as Pilcher’s EMT of the Year and had just recently received his certificate for 20 Years of National EMS Certification. During his free time, he loved to support the Ashford High School Marching Band and served as the past president of the Band Association. He loved Auburn football and was of Baptist faith. Don will be remembered by so many for his dedication and faithful service to his community. He also enjoyed taking care of his wife and grandchildren whom he raised as his own.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Pam Parrish; one daughter, Jennie Temples (Jason) of Webb; three special grandchildren who were like his children, Rachel Grommes (Danny) of Newton, Kaylee Temples (Michael Martell) of Headland, and Jaidyn Temples (Caymon Moore) of Cowarts; one great-grandchild, Hadley Martell and a new one on the way; two brothers, Dewayne Lewis (Geraldine) of Dothan and Tim Lewis (Wanda) of Webb; special cousins, Ricky Jackson, and Patsy Sexton; several brother & sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews; and a special grand dog, Beau.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the Dothan Fire Department Honor Guard and members of the Pilcher’s Ambulance Service.
