Robert E. Floyd, 79, of the Harper’s Joy Community, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Littlefield and Rev. Thomas Harrison officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Harper’s Joy Cemetery with Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday prior to service time. At other times the family will be at the family residence, 1211 Harper Joy Road, Dothan.
Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Ste 1509, New York, NY, 10018.
Mr. Floyd was born March 18, 1943 in Early County, Georgia to Henry and Pixie Lee Lambert Floyd and lived the early years of his life there. He served in the U.S. Army and in the Army Reserve. He has been a resident of Houston County for over 50 years.
In earlier years he worked with Food Services and Houston Paper Company. He then began a career at AAA Cooper, retiring after 32 years of service as the Director of Transportation. In later years, he worked with Maaco, O’Reilly’s, and Bay Limousine Service. Mr. Floyd loved fishing and restoring old cars. He was a member of Harper’s Joy Assembly of God Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Clayton and David and five sisters, Billie, Jessie, Sarah Nell, Clarice and Shirley.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda L. Floyd of Dothan; two daughters, Lisa Dean (John Paul) and Gail Toscano, all of Dothan; five grandchildren, Wendi Powell (Michael), Jennifer Agrella (Craig), Rachel Bush (Jeremiah), Tiffany McNelley (Justin) and Kylie Toscano; three great-grandchildren, Marlee Allen, Loraina Bush and Sophie Agrella; two brothers, Carl Floyd (Jeanette) and Jimmy Floyd; three sisters, Brenda Slater (Glenn), Dean Crawford and Linda Sue Canady (Bobby); numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Powell, Craig Agrella, Justin McNelley , Jeremiah Bush, Neil Hall, Philip Snider, and Allen Dean.
