A memorial service honoring his life will take place at 11 AM EST on October 19, 2024, at Beacon Baptist Church, located at 11616 Indiantown Rd, Jupiter, FL 33478. A graveside service is scheduled for November 2, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Park, 1700 Barrington Road, Midland City, AL 36350.








Robert Eugene Dalton, a revered educator, pastor, and family man, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2024, in Stuart, Florida. Born on February 25, 1944, in Elkton, Maryland, Robert's journey through life was marked by his intelligence, faith-filled spirit, and passionate dedication to his calling.


Robert's life was characterized by his commitment to education and faith. He earned a Doctorate Degree in Church History, which paved the way for a distinguished career in teaching. He imparted wisdom to countless students at Crown College and Ambassador Baptist College, nurturing their minds and spirits. Upon retirement from teaching, Robert continued to shepherd many as a pastor, guiding them with compassion and insight.


His love for reading and writing was not just a pastime but a vocation. Robert authored several books, including Struggle for Liberty: The Baptists, The Bible and Church-state Conflict in Colonial America and John Calvin: The Pope of the Protestant Inquisition, A history of how Augustine, the Protestant Reformers and the Puritans persecuted the faithful people of God. His contribution of valuable perspectives to theological scholarship inspired readers to deepen their own spiritual journeys. His intellectual legacy endures through his written works and the lives he touched as an educator and mentor.


Robert's personal life was anchored by his beloved wife, Jane Dalton, whom he married on May 27, 1975, in Pensacola, Florida. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual support. Together, they raised a family that cherished him deeply: his children, Heather Dalton, Becky Gibney (James), Rachel Fisher (Tom), and Erin Blitzer (Geoff). He was a proud grandfather to Savannah and Sabrina Gibney, Ava, Jack, Ty, and Vivian Fisher, and Calhan Blitzer, each of whom brought him immense joy.


Robert's extended family, including nephews Guy, Chris, Chuck, and Scott, will remember him as a guiding light and a pillar of strength. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Dalton and Orpah Osborne Dalton, and his sister, Sue.


Those who knew Robert will remember him as a man of great intellect and profound faith. He approached life with a passion that was contagious, inspiring those around him to pursue their own paths with conviction and purpose. His presence was a blessing to his family, his students, his congregation, and his community.


Robert Eugene Dalton's legacy is one of love, learning, and faith. He will be deeply missed, but his impact on the world will continue to resonate for generations to come. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
