ROBERT FLOYD WALLACE, SR.
DOTHAN. . .Robert Floyd “Bob” Wallace, Sr., a resident of Dothan, died Saturday night, October 7, 2017, at his home. He was 68.
Memorial services, with military honors, will be held at11:00 A.M. Friday, October 13, 2017, in the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church with Reverend Don Clark and Jerry Deal officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church, 3480 Napier Field Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
Mr. Wallace was born in New York City and moved to Norwich, Connecticut as a teenager. He was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy. In 1970, Mr. Wallace enlisted in the U. S. Navy and retired with the rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class after twenty years service. While serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War era, he was awarded the Submarine Breast Insignia, the Good Conduct Award with three Bronze Stars, the Silver Dolphins Insignia, the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Navy Achievement Medal with one Gold Star and the SSBN Deterrent Patrol Pin with three Gold and two Silver Stars. While in the Navy, he attended college and specialized in Oxygen Generators. After retirement from the military, he worked and later retired as a Supervisor in Industrial Maintenance. Mr. Wallace was affiliated with the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church and was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a brother, Irving Fama, a granddaughter, Braegan Beamon Wallace, and a nephew, Gary L. Justice.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Carol Baker Wallace; three sons, Robert Floyd Wallace, II (Buffy), Christopher Stephen Wallace (Brandi), and Michael Wayne Wallace, all of Dothan; his parents, Floyd T. and Helen A. Wallace, Norwich, CT; a sister, Nora M. Plantier, Norwich, CT; three brothers, Richie Wallace (Al), Tommy Wallace (Tina), and Larry Wallace (Kim), all of Norwich, CT; five grandchildren, Emily Wallace (Hobie), Alicia Wallace, Neelee Wallace, Robert F. (Tripp) Wallace, III, and Garrison Nash Wallace; a great-grandchild, Landon Parker Turvin; a sister-in-law, Maxine Hanson, (Scott), Dothan; two nephews, Robbie Justice (Katrina) and Gary Cascio.
