Robert L. Shuffield, Jr. “Bob” 66, of Dothan Alabama, formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away in Southeast Memorial Hospital after a short illness on Saturday, May 14, 2022.


Bob was born on December 8, 1955 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Shuffield, Sr and Maria (Rachbauer) Shuffield, and a brother Randall Bruce Shuffield.


He survived by sisters Greta (Shuffield) Wagers and Evelyn (Shuffield) Naegele, and brother-in-law Rex Naegele; several nieces and nephews, Jason (Katherin) Shuffield, Maria (Tony) Spring, Andrea Naegele, Miranda (Jerrod) Osborne and Rex Benjamin (Sarah) Naegele; and several great nieces and nephews. Bob graduated in 1974 from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, then in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science from Purdue University in Lafayette, IN, and in 1998 with a Master’s in Personnel Management from Troy State University in Dothan, Alabama. Bob served in the United States Navy as a Surface Officer. Post-military, he settled in Dothan where he worked as a Forester/Manager at Fort Ruckers in Alabama, retiring in 2000.


He enjoyed spending retirement doing various volunteer work, playing backgammon, cooking, writing, and caring for his very special furry friends Buddy and Molly. Bob was a member of Covenant Baptist Church in Indianapolis and attended Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan.


Funeral Services are pending. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Chosen People Ministries or to the American Bible Society. A special thanks to those who cared for Bob during his final journey through life and for being there to usher him into the presence of the Lord.
