ROBERT LAMAR CLENNEY
ABBEVILLE. . .Robert Lamar (Bub) Clenney, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday afternoon, July 5, 2014, in the Piedmont Newnan Hospital in Newnan, Georgia. He was 91.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M Tuesday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Abbeville, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310, or to the Fort Davis United Methodist Church at PO Box 215, Hurtsboro, Alabama 36860 or to Elder Abuse http://www.preventelderabuse.org
Mr. Clenney was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, son of the late Augustus Daniel Clenney and Josie Johnson Clenney. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II and also served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Clenney attended the University of Alabama and Auburn University. He was retired as a Partner and Co-owner in the operation of Home Oil Company in Abbeville. An active member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville, Mr. Clenney formerly served the church as a Deacon, Sunday School Director and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. Mr. Clenney was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Cleveland Clenney, a sister, Dot Smith, and two brothers, Donald Clenney, and Ralph Clenney.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Carol Clenney Carlson (John), Fayetteville, GA; a sister-in-law, Nan Clenney, Abbeville; four nieces, Patricia Brown of San Diego, Ca, Maribeth Bedsole of Abbeville, Cathy Gardner of Northport, Al, and Dawn Clenney of Abbeville; and a nephew, Gene Clenney of Abbeville, as well as, several great-nieces and great-nephews.
