Quenton … Mr. Robert Lawrence Ammons, Sr. (TSgt., United States Air Force, Retired), a resident of Quenton and formerly of Ozark, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was 87.
Mr. Ammons, son of the late Robert and Lucille Smith Ammons, was a native of Dale County. He was extremely proud to have served in the United States Air Force for over 23 years. He was a Veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars serving with distinction. He always spoke of his hometown, Ozark, Alabama and managed to come visit during his time in the military regardless of how far away he and his children were stationed.
He was a very proud family who loved and cared for everyone. He was consistently supportive of his parents, siblings and all of his family. He was more than just a brother, he was everyone’s “Dad”. He was the proud husband to Margie for over 41 years. They were two people that compassionately loved each other and always will. He loved his children and they adored him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucille Ammons; two brothers Wilbur (D-Day) and James; sister Ollie Belle; daughters Karen Lynn Ammons and Patricia Ann Ammons; granddaughter Valeria Michelle Lucas; great granddaughter Athena Ivy Ammons.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Margie; son Robert Lawrence Ammons, Jr. (Ramona); daughter Kathleen (Kathy) Lorraine Diamond (Joe); four sisters Gladys Gray, Jeannie Parker (Clifton), Bobbie Thomley, and Bertha Strickland (Luther); two grandsons Robert L. Ammon,III, and Ryan Park; five granddaughters Morgan Leslie Rice, Brandi Garner Toner (James), Candice Ammons, Stephanie Ammons, and Heather Heinkel; four great granddaughters Alyviah Rice, Emerson Ammons, Allison Heinkel, and Madeline Heinkel; great grandson Alex Toner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
You’re gone from here Dad,but know; we got this and you will always lead us through thick and thin as you always have, but now from Heaven above.
