Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion. The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm.

Robert Lee Ellison was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina on January 21st in 1949. He was the son of the late Lester Lomack and Ruth Ellison. At a young age, he and his older brother John (deceased) moved to Columbia, Alabama to live with his aunts and uncle, Arine “Li’l Sis” Lomack, Marie Lomack Granger, and J.B. “Tank” Granger (deceased).

Robert accepted Christ at an early age and united with St. Luke African Methodist Episcopal Church of Columbia, Alabama. His early education was completed in Haleburg at Haleburg Elementary and Haleburg High School. He later transferred to complete his high school education at Columbia “Colored” High School (Gators) in 1969. After graduation, Robert was drafted into the army and served as an airborne trooper before being honorably discharged in 1971.
In 1975, Robert married Vivian “Yvonne” with whom he would spend the rest of his life. He completed another tour in the army before returning home to Alabama where he began a long career as a long haul truck driver. Robert and Yvonne were blessed with two children, Darrell and Rhonda. Robert continued driving until he retired.
Robert went home to be with the Lord in the morning on Saturday June 25th, 2022 at home.
Robert is survived by the following: a wife, Vivian Y. Ellison, two children, Darrell (Jennifer) Ellison and Rhonda (Willie) Ellison, four grandchildren, Elijah, Leah, Jorden, and Isaiah, a nephew, Mark Ellison (Mark Jr., Khalil, Jamaar), three brothers-in-law, Jordan (Jean) Lewis, Curtis (Stephanie) Lewis, and Janssen (Erica) Lewis, god-sister, Jean Allen, faithful nephew, Janssen “Goobar” Lewis, special nieces, Jacqueline Lewis, Lucille Griffin, and Sarah Griffin, several devoted friends (brothers) to name a few; Willie Sale, EB, Eddie Roy, Buddy, Buford, Paul, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends too many to name.
