Robert “Pop” Maynard Blanchfield of Ozark passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the HRM VA Home in Pell City, Alabama. He was 82 years of age.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Fred Boni officiating and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Blanchfield was born October 17, 1932 in Austin, Minnesota to Maynard and Marie Blanchfield. He joined the U.S. Air Force when he was 17 and served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army as a CW3 after 21 years of service. Mr. Blanchfield worked with the Postal Service and retired in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Blanchfield and a twin brother, William Blanchfield.
Mr. Blanchfield is survived by his son and daughters, Richard Blanchfield (Joy) of Blairsville, Ga., Diane Dean (Jerry) of Georgetown, Ga., and Regina Williams (Danny) of Ozark, AL.
