Robert Neil “Chad” Chadwick, a resident of Ashford, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his residence. He was 75.


Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, July 24, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John D. Reese, III officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Building Homes for Hero’s, 65 Roosevelt Ave., Suite 105, Valley Stream, NY 11581, or Cure Alzheimer’s Fund, 34 Washington Ave., Suite 200, Wellesley Hills, MA 02481, or to the DAV.


Mr. Chadwick was born on April 21, 1942 in Levelland, Texas and lived there the early years of his life. He graduated in 1960 from Levelland High School. After high school, he attended South Plains Jr. College where he played baseball and was nominated for the All-American team. He would later graduate from Texas Tech with a degree in Education. Mr. Chadwick joined the US Air Force and served as an Air Traffic Controller at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona followed by service in Canada. He served in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star for his service before returning to a posting at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. He moved to Dothan in 1976 where he worked with Air National Guard as an Air Force Advisor. He owned and operated Realwood Sign Company for 35 years until his retirement in 2015. Mr. Chadwick dedicated his life to his family, work, and friends. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to go fishing. He loved his Lord and Savior and was a member of New Covenant Christian Fellowship.


Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Jan Chadwick; his sons, Michael (Shonda) Chadwick and Jonathan Chadwick; his 3 grandchildren, Anna Beth Chadwick, Becca Leigh Chadwick, and Landry Michael Chadwick; several nieces and nephews.
