Robert Thaxton (Pete) Smith, born October 3, 1932, in Taylor, Alabama, passed away suddenly Thursday night, March 15, 2012, while enjoying his favorite pastime, dancing.

 

He was the son of the late Harvey Richard Smith and Mattie Coree (Clark) Smith.

 

 A memorial service will be held at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 4 P.M.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3 to 4 P.M. Sunday, March 18, 2012, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Dothan VFW, Post 3073, 1426 Taylor Road, Dothan, Alabama, 36301, for the benefit of the house band.

 

He was preceded in death by a son, Robert T. (Bobby) Smith, Jr. and a brother, Harlan Ray Smith.

 

Survivors include two sons, Robert Steven Smith and his wife, Janie, and Rickey Joe Smith and his wife, Frances, and a daughter, Rebecca Ann (Becky) Smith and special friend, Paul. Nine grandchildren, Wendy Ann (Smith) Reeves, Kelly Michelle (Smith) Saunders, Heather Leahia Smith, Joseph Daniel Smith, Mary Katherine (Smith) Bohn, Robert T. (Petie) Smith, III, Anna Reese (Smith) Willis, Jan Elizabeth Fulford, Cynthia Marie Downes MD, and their spouses, fifteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, sister, Nina Jo (Smith) Mixon, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
