Robert Wayne Ellison, Jr.

Robert Wayne Ellison, Jr., a resident of Dothan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 21, 2022 at a local hospital. He was 89 years old.

A celebration of his life will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Chapel with Brother Rick Glenn officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:30 – 3 pm.

Bob was born on November 30, 1932 in Pelzer, South Carolina and lived there the early years of his life. He moved to Dothan in 1979. Bob proudly served in the US Air Force for 20 years and after his military retirement he worked with Gold Kist and retired from All-Phase Electric. He had a true servant’s heart, having been a volunteer at Flowers Hospital for many years and served as Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher at various churches during his military career. He was a member of Memphis Baptist Church. Bob enjoyed being in the outdoors and fishing.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Clara Ellison, his parents, Robert and Venice Ellison, his brother, Chuck Ellison and by his sister, Donna Huff.

Survivors include his son, Wayne (Connie) Ellison; his daughters, Terri (Ernie) Jones and Dianne Ellison; his five grandchildren, Derrick (Sarah) Jones, Jason (Jessie) Jones, Alyse (Mitch) Murkerson, Dan (Ellie) Ellison, and Doug (Savanna) Ellison; his eight great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
