CLOPTON COMMUNITY. . .Roberta Howard, a resident of the Clopton Community in Dale County, died late Saturday night, October 19, 2024, in the Oakview Manor Health Care Center in Ozark. She was 82.
There are no funeral or memorial services planned at this time. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of Alabama, Metroplex Drive, No. 230, Birmingham, AL 35209 or Safe Haven Animal Rescue (S.H.A.R.K.), P.O. Box 126, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Howard was born and reared in Miami, Florida, daughter of the late Woodrow Watson Mills and Mary Lena Stephens Mills. She lived most of her lifetime in Miami, Florida before moving to Clopton in 1980. Mrs. Howard was retired as a school bus driver from the Dale County Board of Education. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in the Bertha community. Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her husbands, William Franklin Polumbo and Herman Avery Howard.
Surviving relatives include two sons, William J. Polumbo (Jennifer), Skipperville; Curtis L. Polumbo, Winter Garden, FL; a step-son, Herman Avery Howard, Woodland, CA; three step-daughters, Kim Howard, Sebastian, FL; Jill Wysoscki (Mike), Sebastian, FL; and Elaine Baldwin (Greg), Sebring, FL; a sister, Joyce Daniels, Plantation, FL; a brother, Daniel Mills (Jana), Richmond, VA; a special sister-in-law, Gwen Chauncey, Archer, FL; grandchildren, Aaron Polumbo (Chelsey), and Hayden Polumbo (Emily); great-grandchildren, Josie Claire Polumbo and Reece Jeanette Polumbo.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Oakview Manor Health Care and Community Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Howard during her illness.
