Mr. Rodger Steve Johnson of Kinston passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014. He was 69. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2014 at the Earlytown Church of Christ Cemetery with his brother, Dr. Joe Johnson delivering the Eulogy and Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing.
Mr. Johnson was born on January 15, 1945 to Edna Tank and Reba Whigham Johnson. Rodger loved music and was recently inducted into the Hard Rock Café hall of fame. In addition, he was a road manger for Roy Orbison for over 20 years. He was also a member and secretary for the Ma-Chis Indian tribe in New Brockton, AL. He was a loving husband, father, son and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his father; one son, Dave Johnson and one brother, Sherman Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Edna Howell Johnson of Kinston; three children, Mark Johnson, Toni Young (Russ) and Blake Johnson all of Kinston; mother, Reba W. Johnson of Kinston; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wayne Johnson, David Johnson both of Lowery, and Dr. Joe Johnson of Paxton, FL.
