EUFAULA, ALABAMA. . .Rodney Arthur Townsend, a resident of Henry County, Alabama, between Abbeville and Eufaula, died early Thursday morning, October 17, 2024, at his home. He was 67.

            A private burial will be held at Ortona Cemetery in Glades County, Florida, near Moore Haven. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

            Mr. Townsend was born in Naples, Florida. He lived in the Eufaula and Abbeville area most of his lifetime. Mr. Townsend was retired  as a truck driver from Kennesaw Trucking Company of Cartersville, GA. He had also been employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years. Mr. Townsend was preceded in death by his father, John Arthur Townsend, and his mother, Ruth Ressler Dennis.

            Surviving relatives include a son, Rodney Aaron Townsend, Eufaula; a daughter, Amber Leigh Bezenah (Jason), Valley, AL; two other sons, Kenneth Hicks (Rachel), Smiths, AL; and Alan Hicks (Starla), Ft. Walton, FL; two sisters, Beth Mitchell (Craig), Punta Gorda, FL; and Sondra Dennis-Ogden (E.S. Ogden), Punta Gorda, FL; two brothers, Charles Frank “Troy” Townsend (Gayle), Leesburg, FL; and Kevin Townsend, Lakeland, FL; numerous grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and his step-mother, Marlene “Mom” Townsend, Lakeland, FL.
