Rodney Ryals Chambliss of Taylor, AL, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020. He was 68 years old.


Graveside services will be held 4 pm Friday, November 6, 2020 at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Thursday, November 5, 2020 from 4-6 pm.


Rodney was born on March 6, 1952 in Jackson County FL and lived in Greenwood until he moved to the Dothan area in 2001. Rodney was a jack of all trades and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a hardworking man and taught his children the value of a hard day’s work. In his pastime, Rodney enjoyed fishing with his family, especially on the Chipola River.


Rodney was preceded in death by his son, Allen Chambliss in 1975.


Rodney is survived by his loving wife, Laura “Ruth” Chambliss; three sons, Earl Lee O’Bryan, Jesse O’Bryan, and Jason Chambliss; three daughters, Sherri Lynn Meighan, Debbie Henderson, and Cindy Howell; 12 grandchildren including Gavin Chambliss; 19 great-grandchildren including Walker Lee Barr and Shelby Marie Ott; one brother, Charles Chambliss; one sister, Martha Chambliss; and numerous nieces and nephews.
