Rodney Walker Hall – HACODA, AL

April 22, 1950 – March 24, 2021

The man. The myth. The legend.

Rodney Walker “Rod” Hall departed this life for the next on March 24, 2021 with his two children, Kimberly and Derek Hall by his side.  Rod loved deep fried Southern food, mayo on his sweet peas, tooling around on the farm, candy bars, cheap beer, and beautiful women. Not necessarily in that order. He hated cucumbers and lazy people. Not necessarily in that order.

Rod was a jack of all trades and a master of none.  He retired from the Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula, Mississippi and went back to his farming roots when he moved from Mobile back to Hacoda.  Rod could build ANYTHING and was also great at growing things, especially vegetables, wrecking vehicles, giving his kids heart attacks, and making sure his neighbors were always taken care of.  He was a pro at collecting “stuff” and was often referred to as “Mr. Haney” by his children because if you wanted something and he did not already have it, he could find you one of anything that your heart desired.  And he would be happy to do it at a “small” cost.

Rod loved to tell stories. And you could be sure 50% of every story was true. You just never knew which 50%. Roy Rogers and Clint Eastwood were his television heroes. And he was the hero for his two children and many of his friends and loved ones.

When Rod took off for that family reunion in the sky, he was greeted there by his parents, Ned and Dana Lou Simmons Hall, his favorite grandmother, Clarice Simmons Webb, and a myriad of other relatives, friends and loved ones.  Rod leaves behind his daughter, Kimberly C. Hall of Mobile, Alabama, his son, Derek W. Hall of Chunchula, Alabama, three beautiful grandchildren, Victorija Hall-Smith, Liam Smith, Brinkley Hall and his younger brother, Thomas Hall.

A memorial service for Rod will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 am at Pittman Funeral Home in Samson, Alabama.  A community potluck in his honor will follow at the Hacoda Community Center.

Everyone that knew Rod knows that he loved to talk and to eat.  As a tribute to his life, we hope you will all come share some food and some fond memories of Rod with his family and friends.

Condolences may be offered at www.pittmanfuneral.com.
