Roger Carroll Stephenson, age 83, of Dothan, Alabama, went to his everlasting home on January 19, 2022, at Flowers Hospital after a battle with pneumonia.
Roger was born September 29, 1938, in Enterprise, Alabama, to parents, Sam Carroll and Olean (McLean) Stephenson. Roger graduated from Enterprise High School in 1956 and attended the University of Alabama and Harding University before enlisting in the Army in 1960, where he served for two years. He married his love, Delphia Ann Clower, on March 12, 1966. The couple lived in Enterprise until moving to Dothan in 1979.
Roger owned a full service gas station in Dothan for 13 Years. Before retirement, he was a Health Physicist Technician for many nuclear plants in the Southeast. He faithfully attended Westgate Church of Christ for 43 years and served as a deacon for years. He was known for his strong work ethic, generous heart, sweet spirit, and beautiful tenor voice.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Delphia Ann; a daughter, Krista Carol (Brian) Smith; two sons, Dale James (Laura) Stephenson and Dwayne Roger Stephenson all of Dothan, Alabama; seven grandchildren: Landon Wayne Smith and Karlee Brianna Smith of Dothan, Braden James Stephenson, Brenna Lauren Stephenson, Brody Dale Stephenson of Dothan; Kaleb Dwayne Stephenson and William Cain Stephenson of Atlanta, Georgia; Two great-grandchildren, Kai Alexander Murray and Luca Murray of Dothan, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Barbara Lindsey Stephenson and her daughters, Sammi (John) Herber and Kelli (Michael) Senior; several other nieces and nephews, a wonderful church family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Jerry Lamar Stephenson; and a nephew, Jeremy McLean Stephenson, all of Enterprise, Alabama.
A Celebration of his life is planned at 11:00am on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Westgate Church of Christ in Dothan, Alabama, with Minister Chris Jones and Pastor Steve Girton officiating. Interment will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Alabama. Pallbearers include Landon Smith, Braden Stephenson, Kaleb Stephenson, Will Stephenson, Brody Stephenson, Luke Johnson, and Taylor Murray. Family First Funeral Home in Dothan is in charge of arrangements.
