ROLAND NIEL CLAYTON
HEADLAND, AL… Roland Niel Clayton , a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Saturday morning, July 8, 2023, at his home. He was 78.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel with Reverend Jim Corley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Clayton was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to the late Charles Clayton and Margie Nielson Clayton. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force. After his military career he attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a Civil Engineering Degree. He worked for several years with the Civil Corps of Engineers of Alabama, retiring from the Walter F. George Lock, Dam, Powerhouse (Lake Eufaula), Alabama. He was a member of the Camp Springs Baptist Church.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his step-son, Maxwell “Clay” Johns and his step-daughter-in-law, Lillian “Gayle” Johns.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Cecil Carroll Clayton; his step-daughter, Delana Guthrie; his sisters, Cindy Hassrick (John) and Marsha McDermott (Paul); his grandchildren, Nicole Feggins (Charles) and Jessica Melton (Reginald); and his great-grandchildren, Tanner McClenny, Taylor Feggins, Kinslee Melton, and Blake Feggins.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to his caregivers, Cathy Dyson and Angela McLain; to the Headland Fire & Rescue; and to SouthernCare Hospice.
