Roland Powell 88 of Elba, Alabama departed this life Thursday, September 19, 2024 at his home. Funeral services will be held from Hayes Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Hubert McWaters  and Mr. Galen McWaters officiating. Committal services will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hayes Funeral Home on Saturday, September 21, from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM.

Roland was a graduate of Elba High School class of 1955 and completed his education at Troy State. He was an excellent Athlete, Father, Coach, Teacher, Administrator, Farmer and Entrepreneur.

The family requests the omission of flowers and asks that contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Elba Children’s Ministry, P.O. Box 507, Elba, Alabama, 36323.

Survivors include: Wife - Patsy McCollough Powell, Elba, AL, Son - Ronnie (Carla) Powell, Elba, AL, Daughter - Susie (Phil) Farris, Elba, AL, Daughter - Lu (Donnie) Morris, Valparaiso, FL, Grandson - Matthew Farris, Elba, AL, Granddaughter - Anna Powell, Orlando, FL, Granddaughter - Elizabeth Farris, Tampa, FL, Grandson - Broderick (Shawna) Morris, Tyndall AFB, FL, Grandson - LaDon (Missy) Morris, Wright Patterson AFB, FL, Granddaughter - Emily (Joe) Warren, Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Sister - JoAnn (Johnny) Hollinghead, Opp, AL.

Roland was preceded in death by his Mother - Mary Bowdoin Powell, Father - Clifford Powell, 12 Siblings and a grandson - Aaron Powell.
