DOTHAN…Ronald Hayward “Ronnie” Bass, a resident of Dothan, passed away Monday afternoon, November 15, 2021, in a Dothan hospital. He was 73.


   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, November 19, 2021, in the Hebron Baptist Church, Highway 134, between Headland and Columbia, with Reverend Gary DeBerry and Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Friday in the church sanctuary. Social distancing and mask guidelines will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


   Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Hebron Baptist Church, c/o Edwin Glover, 6952 State Highway 134, East, Columbia, AL 36319.


   Ronnie was born in Dale County and reared in Napier Field, son of the late Jack Hayward Bass and Foye Verna Andrews Bass. He was a 1966 graduate of Dothan High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Wallace Community College. Ronnie retired from Sears as a Department Manager. After retirement from Sears, he was the Owner and Operator of Po Boys Guns and Ammo in Dothan. A member of Hebron Baptist Church, Ronnie was presently serving as the church organist. In earlier years, he served as organist at Napier United Methodist Church, Curtis Memorial United Methodist Church and several other churches in the area. He was a member of the Headland Skeet & Gun Club. Ronnie was preceded in death by a niece, Amanda Slocomb, and a brother-in-law, Bruce Blankenship.


   Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Latham Bass; his daughter, Tiffany Whitehead (Dewayne), Cottonwood; a sister, Dinah Bass Blankenship, Dothan; a great-nephew, C.J. Slocumb.


   Serving as active pallbearers will be Phillip Horne, Earl Beamon, Wayne Andrews, C.J. Slocumb, Dan Miller and Mark Whitehead. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Hebron Baptist Church, Gillette Payne, Marlon Peterson and Donnie Gay.
